Lifting off in T-Minus 29 Days: 7 hours: 15 minutes, the 2019 Space Girls event is coming into orbit with its stellar lineup for 2019, as it sets to present the Space Girls Satellite Party.

The event will be MC’d by Double J’s Sarah Howells, and the lineup is absolutely out of this world. Featuring indie-rock guitar slinger and musical messiah, Jaguar Jonze, award-winning electro-pop sensations Ella Fence and Doolie, breakthrough Indigenous DJ Dameeeela, Australian-Fijian singer-songwriter Andrea Kirwin, pop prodigy Elska and folk-pop sibling duo The Dennis Sisters, we absolutely cannot wait for Space Girls Festival to blow us away.

Space Girls Festival is the brainchild of Australian fashion designer, Cindy Vogels (who is the mastermind behind many a Lady Gaga look), and was born from years of Vogels working in the music industry with “incredibly talented women, who all too often aren’t given enough space in festival billing and building.”

The event is a celebration of 100% women-led production, programming and performance, and will be blasting off on the 13th September at Gympie Civic Centre.

“We’ve seen awesome conversation and initiatives addressing the underrepresentation of women recently and are starting to see some real change. But there is still much work to be done,” said  Vogels,“the lineup we’ve programmed is a celebration of women in music from an exciting range of genres with diverse backgrounds too.

“You can’t be what you can’t see, and we are so excited to do our part in transforming the conversation into one galactic realisation that women have a well-earned space in the spotlight!”

With the slogan “It’s time to take up more space, girls,” it’s clear that Space Girls Satellite Party is set to become a staple in the Australian Music Festival scene. Right now the music industry is in a diversity crisis, and it’s about time that more space was made for women to showcase their astronomical talents.

Blasting onto the National music industry radar last year, headliner Jaguar Jonze said, “I am constantly inspired by powerhouse females around me – behind the scenes in the industry, in art, in music and in the home, so I feel honoured to be headlining Space Girls. The band and I can’t wait to be amongst an amazing lineup of talented creatives.”
