Though they might be otherwise occupied touring Australia together, tour buddies Alex Lahey and Stand Atlantic have found the time in their tour schedule to hit the studio, reworking Stand Atlantics smash hit Skinny Dipping in the name of the LGBTQ community.

Skinny Dipping was a tight cut as it was, but the reworked version boasts a stunning verse from Lahey allowing it to soar even higher. The sonic bliss isn’t even the best part. All sales from the single will go towards the It Gets Better Project, a non-profit organisation whose mission is to “uplift, empower, and connect lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer youth around the globe.”

Alex Lahey spoke about the collaboration, explaining “I’m so excited to be involved in this release with Stand Atlantic to celebrate Pride Month and support It Gets Better. As a member of both the music and queer community, I know how important it is to support one another in order to make a greater difference. There is no better time than now to be your true self, exercise compassion, and stand up for what is right.”

Stand Atlantic vocalist Bonnie Fraser, who penned the original version, spoke of what Skinny Dipping means to the It Gets Better message.

“Skinny Dipping is about the push and pull of accepting yourself for who you are vs. how you want others to see you and catering to what you think they expect or want. In this case, I was dealing with my sexuality. Having Lahey on this track was exciting for us – I feel like we are from different music worlds and breaking those boundaries and expectations is important, and essentially what this track encompasses as a whole!”

The track is available everywhere digitally, and you can check it out below. Alex Lahey and Stand Atlantic are now back at it, wrapping up the tail end of their Australian tour dates.
