Steel Panther have again attempted to enter the world of musical equipment, announcing the release of the ‘Poontang Boomerang’ guitar pedal.

Last year, the comedic glam metal band Steel Panther faced some rather widespread criticism for their signature guitar pedal, the ‘Pussy Melter’. Raising ire for its rather sexist name, manufacturer TC Electronics soon pulled the pedal from sale.

“It’s become clear that a number of people have been offended by the title and description of a delay TonePrint that we created over a year ago with Steel Panther’s [guitarist] Satchel,” TC Electronics wrote in a statement.

Noting it “has never been our intention to offend,” the pedal had previously featured a description on the manufacturer’s website that read, “When we met up with Steel Panther’s oh-so-humble guitarist, he had only one condition: that the tone be as wet as the ladies on the front row.”

While many fans of the group fought back against the removal, Steel Panther guitarist Satchel addressed the controversy by noting he had been “working overtime with TC Electronics to re-release the ‘pussy melter’ tone print under the less offensive, more politically correct name of the ‘Butthole Burner’.”

“Don’t worry,” he assured his fans, “it will still melt your pussy, ladies.”

Now, months on from the pedal’s controversial removal, the band have announced another piece of musical equipment.

As Alt Press noted recently, a video was posted on YouTube that brought attention to the fact that online music marketplace Reverb had banned the ‘Pussy Melter’ from sale.

After attempts to list the item for sale were flagged, the seller in question contacted Reverb, only to be told that it was “the imagery and the pedal itself is what we do not allow on our site.”

In a statement responding to this ban, Steel Panther took the opportunity to announce the release of their latest pedal, the similarly-named ‘Poontang Boomerang’.

“We heard from people all over the world that the eargasms they got from the ‘Pussy Melter’ were amazing and that they only wanted more,” the group wrote.

“Up to face any challenge, the scientific team of Steel Panther hunkered down in the lab only to re-emerge having created the world’s greatest digital delay pedal that would keep the sensations repeating for any guitarist male, female, non-binary and/or gender fluid over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over…GET IT? It’s a delay pedal silly!”

“As for Reverb.com, we think its ridiculous that they are biased towards the mighty ‘Pussy Melter’,” they continued. “We have seen so many comparably named items on their website for sale, yet they have decided to just ban our pedal from being sold there?”

“If we’ve learned anything from this whole situation, selling your shit at garage sales is way cooler!”

According to their website, Steel Panther’s new delay pedal features “a boost and modulation which lets you go ape shit and gets your undercarriage tingling” and apparently “delivers the goods faster than you blowin’ ya goo for the first time.”

In addition to dials that alternate the “Distance”, “Feedback”, “Dry”, and “Wet” settings, it also features a toggle switch that alternates between “G’day” and “Crikey”, while its input and output jacks are respectively labelled, “jam it in mate” and “pull out mate”.

While we can’t speak in regards to what the new pedal sounds like, we can’t help but think that that the band would have learned from the criticism they faced in regards to their first pedal.
