Stewart Copeland is set to make his highly anticipated return to Australian and New Zealand stages next year, marking his first visit to the region in 18 years.
The legendary drummer will present his intimate spoken word show, ‘Have I Said Too Much? The Police, Hollywood, And Other Adventures’, following overwhelming success across dozens of sold-out UK performances.
The tour announcement comes as Copeland expressed his enthusiasm for reconnecting with Antipodean audiences. “Demand for this intimate new show has surpassed my expectations, and I can’t wait to return to Australia & New Zealand next year and share the stories of my life with even more fans,” he stated.
Copeland established himself as one of rock’s most influential drummers through his pivotal role in The Police, the band he founded after recruiting Sting and guitarist Andy Summers. His distinctive rhythmic style became the driving force behind the band’s meteoric rise to global prominence between 1977 and 1986.
The Police’s remarkable catalogue earned them induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The band’s influence extended well beyond their initial run, evidenced by their successful reunion tour from 2007 to 2008.
Following The Police’s initial disbandment, Copeland diversified his musical pursuits across multiple mediums. His Hollywood soundtrack work includes notable collaborations with prestigious directors, crafting scores for Francis Ford Coppola’s Rumblefish and Oliver Stone’s Wall Street and Talk Radio.
Copeland’s upcoming Australian and New Zealand tour promises an unprecedented level of intimacy, offering audiences insight into his multifaceted career. Each show will be hosted by acclaimed Perth radio broadcaster Sarah Tout, who will facilitate the evening’s proceedings.
