U.K. Grime artist Stormzy has just announced a publishing deal with Penguin Random House. The new imprint #Merky Books will focus on helping young writers become published authors.
#Merky Books inaugural release will also be Stormzy‘s first-ever book, Rise Up: The #Merky Journey So Far. The book serves as an autobiography featuring never-before-seen photographs, annotated lyrics and contributions from peers. It is available to pre-order now.
According to the site, “#Merky Books will publish two to three books per year, and form a home for a new generation of voices.” These works will be fiction, non-fiction, or poetry and will all be curated by Stormzy.
In a statement released via Instagram he explains “I know too many talented writers that don’t always have an outlet or a means to get their work seen and hopefully #Merky Books can now be a reference point for them to say ‘I can be an author’ and for that to be a realistic and achievable goal.”
