After what felt like an aeon of teasing, Tenacious D have finally unveiled their collaboration with Jack White. The band have announced that they will be releasing two Jack White produced singles for Record Store Day Black Friday.

The two tracks,  ‘Don’t Blow It’ and ‘Kage’ are set to be pressed on a 7-inch through Third Man’s Blue Series. There will be two variants for you to get your filthy mittens on; a special tri-coloured vinyl will be flogged at Third Man’s shops in Nashville and Detroit, whilst the rest of us commoners are destined for a plain black pressing.

The genesis of this beautiful collaboration can be dated back to June this year, after the music world nearly imploded when the first photo evidence of Jack White and Jack Black meeting in person hit the internet. It was later revealed that Tenacious D descended upon Jack White’s studio during the Nashville leg of their tour.

“Jack White,” Black shared at the time, “we went over to his house today and recorded a brand new song.”

In an interview with 95.5 KLOS, Tenacious D delved into further detail about their encounter with the ever-elusive White.

“It was just a fortuitous coincidence that we were coming to Nashville, where Jack White HQ is, he lives there and he’s got his rad studio there. And he said, ‘hey, I heard you guys are coming to my town. Do you want to come and just record a quick jam?’,” Black explained.

“He’s got this setup where you can record direct to vinyl, and we’re, like, ‘Yeah, we got to write a song for that, we can’t just play one of our oldies. We’ll write something up.’

“And then he was, like, ‘Hey, you want to take it a step further and come to my house and record in my home studio?’ We’ll do a level up above just recording direct to vinyl, we’ll, like, do it for real.”
