Tennis, who have just released a brand new album in the gloriously swooning Swimmer, has shared a letter on social media addressing the impact that Coronavirus is having on them and many other musicians.

Taking to Instagram, Tennis has posted the letter addressing tour date rescheduling and also the impact that the virus has had on the music industry.

Check out the letter below.

“**TOUR UPDATE** We’ve been following the news with a mounting sense of dread, hoping that the virus might be contained. Now it is clear that our shared health is at risk and we must all do our part to slow its spread. (Two sentences I never thought I’d write). As many of you already suspect, our West Coast tour dates through Phoenix will be postponed. No shows will be cancelled, just rescheduled. All tickets will be honoured and you will be hearing from your local venues/ticketing agencies with more information. Our tour dates from Denver on are still scheduled, but we will comply with any restrictions that arise. I hope you understand that we can’t announce rescheduled dates until we are sure it is safe to do so. We’re taking this one day at a time, like all of you.

“The whole situation is heartbreaking. About 80% of our income comes from tour, and we aren’t the only ones relying on it. Our band and crew, not to mention venue staff, bartenders, sound engineers, and many others depend on this income. Musicians live on such thin margins as it is. Going months or even weeks without work will be painful for everyone and potentially career-ending for some. I am honestly numb thinking of the ripple effect this will have on our and so many other industries. My heart goes out to everyone who is currently worried about their health AND how they will pay their bills next month.

“I am furious at our government and elected officials for failing us so completely. The chaos and uncertainty we face is largely due to their lack of leadership. The burden of managing a public health crisis should not have fallen on us, yet it has. It’s an election year. Let’s hold these people accountable. Only we can make the world safer for ourselves and our children.

“Until then, I’ll be seeking solace in the one thing that has always been there for me: music.
