For a band that eschew the usual trappings of rock stardom, The Arcade Fire are pretty good at playing the hype machine. In barely a fortnight they’ve whipped the music press in to a frenzy with their teaser campaign for the band’s new 12” single which was released yesterday in the UK, with copies carefully advanced to key indie radio DJs the night before – sending the blogosphere into a frenzy. Next comes, of course, the album – and the Montreal band has announced that it’ll be entitled The Suburbs.

Released on August 2nd, their third album was co-produced by the band and Markus Dravs (Mumford & Sons, Coldplay). The band have spent the last two years writing, arranging and recording the follow up to Neon Bible and expect tickets to the tour in support of the album to sell out in record time. They’re playing European festivals this northern Summer, with fingers crossed for an Australian tour over our summer.
