For those uninitiated Aunty Donna are one of Melbourne’s most most exciting (and funniest, obviously) comedy groups, exploding onto the Melbourne comedy scene in 2012, the guys have racked up a loyal following thanks to their unique brand of surreal, fast paced, alternative sketch comedy (heaps of which you can watch here on Youtube).
Their debut show Aunty Donna in Pantsuits was nominated for the illustrious Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s Golden Gibbo Award, and the ‘Donnas’ have since gone on to create an award winning YouTube channel, garnering over 60 thousand subscribers and 7 million views.
The guys have just returned from smashing the 2015 Edinburgh Festival and will be performing this Friday the 13th at The Yarraville for Yarraville Laughs. So to celebrate the upcoming show, the guys kindly selected their picks for the funniest songs, ever. Strap yourselves in.

“This would have to be our favourite musical song. It has brilliant comedic timing as well as well as some world class performances. In my opinion these guys do a really good job of taking a really dark theme and finding humour in it.”
“Now what we like about this one is that it is ALL IN ONE TAKE. This style of shooting is a bit in vogue at the moment (see season 1 of ‘True Detective’ or the brilliant ‘Aunty Donna Pilot’ for ABC), but that doesn’t discount the incredible work done by these comedic geniuses, Aunty Donna, to make this comedy classic. Enjoy.”
“This one is a bit violent for me. But it really captures what musical comedy can do. Which is to have something funny to say about the darker things that happen in our society and even make us laugh at them. God bless you Aunty Donna for tackling this taboo issue.”
“This one comes from some local boys, ‘Aunty Donna’ who have garnered a bit of an online following of recent years. They also do live shows. I went to see their comedy show at the Comedy Festival this year because I’d heard some buzz about them. I didn’t get it. It was very loud and everyone in the audience was under 30. It was just really loud. Did not enjoy.”
“And Finally, we end on a classic! Bikie Wars by Aunty Donna. These local Aussie boys tickle me just right! I can’t wait to see them live this friday (the 13th WoOoO) at Yarraville Laughs! It’s a great night out and value for money. Quick, book now! Or I’ll take all the tickets! Ha Ha! Lol.”
More Songs That Aunty Donna Find The Funniest
“Matt Corby was on season five of Australian Idol. Then he disappeared. Then he came back as a sexy dude doing Triple J trendy music. That’s pretty funny. He’s clearly super talented and very attractive and deserves to be super successful. But hahahahahahaha.”
“In 2009, people were all about folk music for about 12 minutes.
Unfortunately for Mumford & Sons people’s infatuation with trendy new folk didn’t last long.
What do they care though? They probably all have massive houses and don’t really have to worry about buying health cover or anything like that. They can just buy it. They can have health insurance and play their banjo’s all day. Good on em’.”
“We all went to Uni in Ballarat. To become successful Actors. It didn’t work out.
One day Shannon Noll played at the cinema in Ballarat. Usually you’re not allowed to bring mixed drinks into the main cinema in Ballarat but for this special occasion they made an exception. So you could go to the Ballarat Cinema, see Shannon Noll and get completely munted. I miss Ballarat.”
“Self Explanatory.”
“Stephanie McIntosh played Sky on Neighbours. Then she did this. The best part is when she tells that dude that ‘it’s over’. Stephanie McIntosh also dated Nick Reiwoldt for a while, which his funny.”
