The National have unveiled plans for a brand new ongoing series, ‘An Exciting Communal Event’.
Every Tuesday, at 7 am AEST, the band will unveil archival content from their vaults — think classic live sets and never-before-seen footage. The series aims to raise funds for the band’s touring crew. The COVID-19 pandemic has had devastating effects on the music industry, leaving thousands of musicians and those that work behind the scenes without income. To help their crew during these trying times, the band have set up a GoFundMe page.
They have also announced that they will donate profits from their merch sales, and Cherry Stree fan club enrollments to support crew members.
“Our crew are the lifeblood of our touring operation and have become family through the many years we’ve worked together,” the band shared in a statement. “As uncertainty looms over the state of the live concert industry, we will direct all profits from merch sales through our website, new Cherry Tree fan club enrollments, and sales from the Cherry Tree members-only store to support our crew members throughout this crisis to the best of our ability.”
The National will return to Australia this December in support of their latest album, I Am Easy To Find, with support from Phoebe Bridgers. You can find the tour dates below.
