Nearly half a century later, Iggy Pop has finally shared an official music video for his 1977 song ‘The Passenger’, which featured on his second studio album, Lust For Life.

Iconic musician Iggy Pop has just shared the music video for his 1977 song ‘The Passenger’, making it a grand total of 43 years between the song releasing and the accompanying video.

Taking to Instagram, the legendary singer credits Simon Taylor, Ester Friedman, and Paul McAlpinerr for helping to make the video what it’s become, citing that they’ve shared both their talents and their images to help it come to life.

“So, ‘The Passenger’ finally has an official video,” he wrote to Instagram before sharing, “it’s been worth it,” to see it finally come to life.

The video sees many black and white archived images from the singer’s early career, which fade into views of driving through the night, accompanied by the lyrics he wrote so many years ago:

Get into the car / We’ll be the passenger / We’ll ride through the city tonight / See the city’s ripped backsides / We’ll see the bright and hollow sky / We’ll see the stars that shine so bright / The sky was made for us tonight.”

Appearing on YouTube, Iggy Pop once again thanked those who made the video possible in the description, writing a thanks “for those beautifully captured shots that make this video truly encapsulate the period.”

‘The Passenger’ originally came out as a B-side to Iggy’s tune ‘Success’, which was the first single to be released from his 1977 album, Lust For Life.
