The Smith Street band seem to be working on a little something-something on the side following their success of Don’t Waste Your Anger.

Following massive success with their fifth studio album, The Smith Street Band seem to be teasing a new side project following a cheeky Instagram video.

Last night, the Melbourne pop-punk outfit took to Instagram to say, “Day 1 of a new project! (Not smithies!)” accompanied by a brief, spinning clip of some tunes in the background, a project checklist board, and a little bit of recording equipment.

Fans were quickly stoked to see the little snippet of news, with many speculating that it’ll be a rap album as one follower wrote “excited for that rap album,” which prompted another to say “Ah, yes. The Lil Willy rap project is coming to fruition.”

While there has been no additional news on what the band are cooking up, we know that it’ll be a side project, and that it involves a good guitar tune, and apparently a fair amount of pedals, with one commenting: “Tight pedalboard.”

As of today, it’s been just over a month since the sextet released their fifth studio album that saw them racing to the top of the ARIA Charts, scoring them their first #1 album, ever, ahead of big names like Gang Of Youths and Denzel Curry and leaving the band ecstatic: “We’re all very shocked! Thank you so much to everyone who listened to the album!”

Additionally, their new album has seen a fair few spins on Spotify, seeing both ‘I Still Dream About You’ and ‘God Is Dead’ featuring as some of their top hits.
