The Weeknd has co-written an episode of American Dad!. The episode will see the musician play himself “kinda”. The episode, A Starboy Is Born, will feature on the seventeenth season of the TBS animated series, and will air on May 4th. As Deadline reports, the episode will also see The Weeknd debut a new song.
This isn’t the first time Abel Tesfaye has played himself. Last year, the musician made his cinematic debut in The Safdie Brother’s critically-lauded masterpiece, Uncut Gems.
Last month saw The Weeknd release his fourth album, After Hours, a flurry of delicious new wave and dream pop-inflected R&B. The musician recently gave a nod to Australian indie hero Donnie Benét.
The musician curated a handpicked playlist for Amazon, which delved into the songs that inspired After Hours. The playlist featured Benét’s track ‘Konichiwa’ off his album The Don.
