How many times have you been to a gig where the performing artist has closed their show by displaying their gratitude to the audience, telling fans that they’d be nothing without them?

Something we’re all too familiar with, and rightfully so. However, just because we’re the lifeblood that keeps these musos on the air, does that mean we can also shit all of them?

Of course this question is rhetorical, however one (ex)fan recently publicly berated Dutch hardstyle producer Willem Rebergen aka Headhunterz online, accusing him of selling-out after a change of musical direction in working with Flosstradamus and Krewella, and as a consequence of this, that all of his fans now hate him. As inthemix reports, Rebergen hit back at this jerk in the most fuck yeah of ways.

Facebook user Rush A. Nutter, probably a potential lame alias to shoot people down online, wrote the following: “Headhunterz How does it make you feel to see that the fans that once adored you now all hate you and think you suck? All for money too. Don’t you have trouble sleeping at night?”

Standing-up for so many musicians slammed by those that are meant to love them most, Rebergen writes,“My musical path was never about pleasing you, after 8 years of doing the same thing, I found the right amount of courage to listen to the inner need for a fresh breath of air” he continued “Of course, knowing that people like you would be coming along feeling hurt and blaming me for that.”

He defends his musical direction, making it abundantly clear that he made plenty of coin in hardstyle and that it was merely a time for a change of direction, “there are so many people on this planet who actually enjoy this kind of music” before closing with a brilliant comparison, “I hate spinach, you might love it. That does not make it disgusting and it does not make it delicious either.”

Check out the full response from Rebergen below, the Dutch producer wins this round in the best way possible. You can catch all the mayhem of a Headhunterz live show this April at Trak Lounge Bar in Melbourne and at Sydney’s Olympic Theatre.
