Based at the Sydney offices of the major record label, this role is all about looking after the books of Universal’s blockbuster artist roster: everyone from Bon Jovi to Matt Corby, Nicki Minaj and beyond. Responsibilities inlcude working with stakeholders towards the resolution of royalty statements and music payroll, as well as managing data, account reports, and generally supporting the whole artist compensation kit and kaboodle for Universal’s global network of licensees in 77 countries worldwide.

Queensland Music Festival Finance & Administration Manager

Quick sticks on this one, as applications close at the end of the day, but the team behind Queensland Music Festival are seeking a full time a professional all-rounder to handle finance, admin, communications, IT, and other duties for the biennial state-wide music festival. Working in a “creative and dynamic team environment”. On the finance front, the role includes handling festival accounts, payroll (receivables, payables, and salaries), taxation, assets, and budgets. Admin includes staff and employment contracts, insurances, coverage, corporate records, and overseeing QMF’s IT systems network. Accounting systems knowledge and three years experience are a must.

InTheMix Staff Writer

If you’re quick on the touch typing, love dance music, and got a creative bent, then this could be your dream job. The Sound Alliance (the media company behind FasterLouder, Mess+Noise, Junkee and more) are looking to hire a Staff Writer for InTheMix, working from the Surry Hills offices in Sydney but across the Australian and US brands. The successful applicant will write daily news and features for the website, reporting to the editorial team, and be able to “nail the right tone of each piece, delivering consistently high quality copy each time, every time.” Paid writing positions like this are becoming a rarer quantity in the Aussie music industry, so if you’re a wordsmith, start decorating your cover letter with your best glowing descriptions.

Though applications were originally set to close last Friday, Secret Service have extended submissions until this Friday for a vacant Senior Publicist role at their Sydney office. The successful applicant will be publicising festivals (The Falls Festival, Dungog, Splendour In the Grass sidehows), labels (Dew Process, Create Control, Mute, etc.), plus Secret Sounds tours and artists like Mumford & Sons, London Grammar, Bernard Fanning, The Jezabels, The Drones, Augie March – the list goes on. The Secret Service PR team publicises to national media across online (to people like us), print, TV, and radio. That means creating and managing schedules, writing pressers and bios, pitching campaign strategies, and all with an exceptional degree of communication, computer literacy, and creativity. Four years’ experience and an in-depth knowledge of local industry are essential, but so too is a “great personality and sense of humour.”

The Arts Centre Melbourne Business Administrator

Are you a Melbourne-based business brain? Check. Got a love of music and the arts? Double check. Well, then this career opportunity is calling for you. The team behind top-tier state-funded venues such as Hamer Hall, the Sidney Myer Music Bowl, and the Theatres Building, is on the hunt for a full-time Business Administrator. The position will see you “liaise with Producers, Program Managers, Curators and Event Managers” and providing daily support with the Arts Centre’s Performing Arts division – including contracting, client communication and advice, insurance administration, and other reporting. Providing courses, workshops, and music education, the Universal School of Music aims to support Australian music-makers “provides a pathway into the music industry through our support programs and foundation.” They’re also currently seeking musicians and local talent to perform at a selection of venues in the western regions of Melbourne – “a rare opportunity to gain real performance experience and make money doing what you love.” You need to audition for one of these music artists contracts, as places in the program are limited, but the listing promises a network of “music producers, artist development mentors, industry leaders, booking agents, tour managers, production/media crew, studio facilities and more.”
