Former Blink-182 guitarist Tom DeLonge has released an animated version of his latest children’s book, Who Here Knows Who Took My Clothes?
While the name Tom DeLonge instantly conjures up images of hit singles with bands such as Blink-182, Box Car Racer, and Angels & Airwaves, it should have you thinking of the written word as well.
Since making his book debut with 2001’s Blink-182: Tales From Beneath Your Mom, Tom DeLonge returned to the world of music for quite some time. However, he commenced writing again in 2013, releasing The Lonely Astronaut On Christmas Eve, his first children’s book.
Since then, he’s mainly worked on a variety of intriguing novels, but managed to focus on younger readers again with the likes of Strange Times: The Curse of Superstition Mountain and 2018’s Who Here Knows Who Took My Clothes? Now, the latter has received the animated treatment.
As Rolling Stone reports, the book was first released in October with illustrations by Ryan Jones. Now, Zach Passero has animated the story, complete with narrations from Tom DeLonge himself.
In a statement about the video, DeLonge explained that he finds himself attracted to books such as this due to their simple, rhyming nature.
“They’re short pieces of poetry that rhyme,” he explained. “I thought it would be funny to write a children’s book about a man running around looking for his clothing.”
“I actually started writing this one long before I published my first children’s book, The Lonely Astronaut, but I wound up losing it. I was able to bring it to life again after a family member found it sitting in an old journal.”
“I never imagined that the book would’ve turned out as good as it did, but [Ryan Jones’] fun and rich artwork married perfectly with my sense of humor,” he continued. “Then Zach Passero and his incredible animation skills entered the picture and we wound up making something that I think is really special.”
In related news, Tom DeLonge announced just last month that he’s turning his graphic novel Strange Times into a new TV show. It’s been put into development, though there’s no news yet as to when it’ll hit our screens.
