Tool fans are amongst some of the most dedicated and loyal human beings on the planet. Although we now live in the comfort of knowing a new album is in the works, the more impatient fans may be wondering whether their years of blind commitment would amount to disappointment.

Now, Tom Morello has opened up to Rolling Stone Italy, ensuring longtime Tool fans that their dedication is well “worth waiting so much.” The current Prophets Of Rage guitarist said that he’s heard the “instrumental” version of the upcoming record, mentioning that vocals haven’t been recorded yet.

“I heard the instrumental version of the record. Maynard had not recorded anything yet. It sounds great, I can say that it is worth waiting so much.’ Maynard opened up last week, comparing the new Tool album to Chinese Democracy, in reference to how long it’s taken the band to pull it together.

Morello went on to add that, “Tool is a band that pays great attention to the composition, they take care of everything in the smallest details. I have listened to 7 or 8 songs: they are long, elegant, brutal… they are Tool.”

He’s also got the inside scoop on when the album will come out, however, he can’t yet drop any details, describing the album as “mysterious, deep and sexy.”

“[Laughs] I would say yes, I can not say when it will come out, but I can say that I have listened to a lot of exceptional music. I hope Maynard doesn’t screw everything up, but I’m sure it will not be like that.”

“Had the honor of being the first outsider to hear new Tool music today! Still just instrumentals but sounded epic, majestic, symphonic, brutal, beautiful, tribal, mysterious, deep, sexy and VERY Tool. Really great. So excited to hear the record when it’s finished.”
