Keen for some more iso tunes? Guitarist Adam Jones of Tool has shared an early demo clip of the 2019 track ‘Descending’ along with some trippy visuals.
Even though it took Tool a massive thirteen years to give us another album after their 2006 album 10,000 Days, it seems that isolation and lockdown has revved them up a bit, and they’ve come out sharing the goods.
We’ve already heard from the alt-metal collective that they’re keen to make an EP while in quarantine, and then we’ve seen a play-through of ‘Pneuma’ come out of this era of social distancing. Now, guitarist Adam Jones has shared another goody to tuck into – an early demo of ‘Descending’.
Taking to Instagram, the legendary guitarist shared his thoughts on the “early comp of what is now ‘Descending'”.
“Justin [Chancellor, bass] and I normally bring in potential riffs and demos – then the three of us tear them apart like wolves while DC [Danny Carey, drums] stirs it up with the most opposite counter rhythm drumming (which actually does drives everything forward,” he shared.
“Justin brought in this killer 7 melody which is now the main verse of the song,” he continued before stating that Justin called it “bluegrass” at first. “We jammed it a LONG time trying to find other cool working parts. Eventually I added the 9beat turnaround and a chorus.”
If you’re keen to give it a listen, you may want to pop on some good headphones, as Jones shared that “the two guitar parts are recorded left and right stereo.”
