With the year coming to an end, the good folks at triple j are taking some time to reflect on the past 12 months. Specifically, they’ve gone ahead and run the numbers and revealed the station’s most-played artists of 2015.

Though the triple j die-hards out there probably could have told you this already, Australia’s national youth broadcaster has confirmed that Perth psychedelic outfit Tame Impala were their most played band this year.

The Kevin Parker-led project was followed by UK indie darlings The Wombats, the inimitable Florence & The Machine, Australian electronic giants Hermitude, and our homegrown singing-songwriting golden girl, Courtney Barnett.

You can check out the full list down below or via the triple j website. Whilst the top 20 is predictably diverse, featuring everything from hip-hop and electro to synth pop and EDM, you’ll notice a heavy contingent of Aussie artists.

The list also offers some helpful hints as to who to look out for in the upcoming triple j Hottest 100, with acts like Tame Impala, Major Lazer, The Rubens, and Jarryd James hotly tipped to be in the running for the number one spot.

Over at Double J, triple j’s digital sister station was giving some major love to UK indie veterans Blur, acclaimed singer-songwriter Laura Marling, cross-genre hero Beck, homegrown favourite Darren Hanlon, and EDM trailblazers The Chemical Brothers.

Meanwhile, the most played artists on triple j Unearthed were unveiled earlier this month, with Sydney up-and-comer Gordi topping the list, followed by Vallis Alps, Le Pie, Mangelwurzel, and Tired Lion rounding out the top five.
