US fast food chain Wendy’s has stepped up their social media game, playfully heaping scorn on a bunch of metalcore bands.
If you’ve ever found yourself laughing at the images of sick burns and snappy comebacks on social media, there’s a pretty good chance they might have come from the Wendy’s Twitter account.
Celebrating 50 years since they opened in 2019, the US fast food chain has made headlines in recent years for having one of the sharpest-tongued social media teams in the world.
In fact, their firm grasp on social media has proved more successful than any of their previous marketing campaigns, with their quick wit and clever retorts being shared all over the Internet.

On Friday though, the fast food chain celebrated #NationalRoastDay, which saw them serve up some steaming hot serves of comedy, usually at the expense of their followers and admirers.
In this case, it turns out that many of their targets were members of famed metalcore bands.
As AltPress notes, the Wendy’s Twitter account did not shy away from letting their feelings be known in regards to bands like Beartooth, State Champs, and Miss May I.
After one follower attempted to get the fast food chain to roast them, Wendy’s responded by stating they looked like, “the kid who got knocked down in the pit trying to pretend this Hawthorne Heights show is a Terror show.”
Soon, bands such as Hawthorne Heights chimed in, before Wendy’s went hard on a wide variety of groups and record labels, including self-appointed metalcore founders Atreyu.

Why'd Ashes to Ashes take 3 years? It can't be that hard to write a bunch of break downs and scream over it. #NationalRoastDay

While #NationalRoastDay might be over for another year, Wendy’s has again raised the bar for what a social media team should be.
Either they’ve got themselves a pretty devoted metalcore fan on their side, or they’ve employed someone with such a sharp tongue and level of commitment that a pay rise might just be on the cards.
