There’s no denying the infiltration of country stylings into the mainstream psyche as of late. Whilst Taylor Swift has long surpassed her rhinestone glory of yesteryear, indie, hip hop and rock artists from all over have recently begun to wholly embrace the sounds and sorrows of the often misunderstood culture.

Having carved their teeth in the depths of LA’s cut-throat music scene for some time now, Valley Queen are poised for world domination with their alt-country inflicted brand ultra-catchy indie rock.

Valley Queen released their highly acclaimed album Supergiant in the US last year – it’s finally set to drop in Australia this June 28th, unveiling its first single ‘Boiling Water’.

Drooling in charismatic twang, that equally evokes the bluesy sensibilities of Courtney Barnett and the dreamy haze of fuzzy indie legends like Best Coast, ‘Boiling Water’ is a rollicking, blistering guitar-driven banger.

Vocalist Natalie Carol has said Supergiant is an intense collection of songs that encompasses the last few years for the band.

“It can be really painful and isolating to go through something that doesn’t really look like anybody else’s experience but your own.”

“But ultimately that’s part of the beautiful orchestration of being alive—instead of trying to go around that experience you need to go fully into it. I think that’s the only way to get a deeper understanding of who we really are.”

Pre-order Supergiant here.
