Vanilla Ice has revealed that he was among those trapped on a flight from Dubai that was quarantined after numerous passengers spontaneously fell ill.

As CNN reports, a New York City-bound flight from Dubai was quarantined at John F. Kennedy Airport on Wednesday after more than 100 of the plane’s 500 passengers started to exhibit symptoms of coughing, fever or vomiting.

While at least ten passengers were taken to hospital for further treatment, the acting Health Commissioner for New York City surmised that the cause of the illness was “probably influenza”.

Although some news sources have noted that this sort of thing sounds exactly like the start of a horror movie, others have focused more on the fact that the flight also featured none other than ’90s rap icon Vanilla Ice onboard.

Taking to Twitter earlier today, the rapper-turned-TV presenter shared a couple of messages expressing how wild the whole event seemed.

“So I just landed in New York coming back from Dubai and now I’m stuck on the runway with like 1000 police, ambulances, fire trucks,” he explained.

“This is crazy. Apparently there is over 100 people sick on the bottom floor, so happy I’m up top, it’s a double-decker plane 380.”

While many of the plane’s passengers were treated by medical professionals, it appears that Vanilla Ice managed to avoid any major health problems, with a spokesperson for the rapper confirming to Billboard that he has since flown onwards to Florida.
