In an ominous sign of the new Victorian Government’s approach to live music, it appears that $100,000 in stop-gap funding has been axed by the Liberals from funding for the 2011 St Kilda Festival. After major sponsor Foxtel dropped out, the Labor Government had pledged $300,000 over three years to help the festival continue.
A representative of Fair Go 4 Live Music has had confirmation from the Government that the $100,000 pledged by Labor to keep the festival going in 2011 has been axed. Government spokesman Simon Troeth issued a statement that the regular funding of $300,000 would continue to the festival. We’ll keep you updated as we hear more.
