With new music allegedly on its way, and now a TV show, it seems that Vince Staples is showing no signs of slowing down. Just today he released a trailer for the aptly titled The Vince Staples Show, and even though we’re still unclear on what the show is about, the trailer definitely sold us on it.

In the trailer, Vince Staples instructs a pair of children on the swift art of selling candy to strangers, before dropping them off at a Green Mills supermarket as he watches from the car. It’s a funny one-minute way of introducing the mysterious new project on the way.

The trailer opens with Staples’ voice noting, “You already know the deal – we’re not doing too much talking. I ain’t got time for no cold feet… both of y’all signed up for this.” Now what you wouldn’t expect the screen to cut to is two kids with boxes full of chocolate, ready to make some sales.

Ultimately, the teaser doesn’t reveal too much about The Vince Staples Show, including its specific format or any details about the production. However, it does note that the “all-new original series” will arrive on Thursday, August 22nd. One might assume the show is just album promo, or an actual full-length series, but as for now, Staples has been super tight-lipped.

In early August, Staples signed to Motown Records’ Blacksmith Recordings label. The rapper previously released five titles for Def Jam: the 2014 EP Hell Can Wait, 2015 LP Summertime ’06, 2016 EP Prima Donna, 2017 record Big Fish Theory and 2018 LP FM!, which Rolling Stone named the fifth-best album of that year.

The rapper, who recently appeared on Common’s single ‘Hercules,’ announced at the August 7th meeting for Capitol Music Group that new music would be coming in “a week, two weeks,” Billboard reports.
