It’s been a while between drinks for Brisbane’s Violent Soho.
The band first shot into the music world’s eye when they signed to Thurston Moore’s (of Sonic Youth fame) record label Ecstatic Peace! in 2009 and released their sophomore self-titled LP. A move that saw the four friends relocate to the US for the next 18 months of their young lives.
This move proved to be a fruitful one for Violent Soho who went on to make a considerable dent in the US Billboard Charts when their single ‘Jesus Stole My Girlfriend’ peaked at #21 on the Billboard Alt charts and subsequently saw them touring North America with bands such as Dinosaur Jr, Alice in Chains, Built To Spill and The Bronx…while also making the trip to the UK to play the coveted ATP after being specially requested by Les Savy Fav. In late 2010 and after all of this, Violent Soho decided it was time to head back to their hometown of Mansfield and begin working on album #3.
Since returning to Australia the band has been hard at work writing and stockpiling material for their upcoming album due out next year. The first taste of which is their new single ”Tinderbox’, a blistering track that was released through I OH YOU last month to rave reviews:

Violent Soho are now gearing up for their first Australian headline show in over two years in support of the Tinderbox single, this will see them playing intimate venues in Sydney, Adelaide, Melbourne and their hometown of Brisbane throughout November.
Tinderbox is taken from the upcoming Double A-Side 7″ ‘Tinderbox / Neighbour Neighbour’ due out on the 2nd of November through I OH YOU.
Note: This Wednesday Violent Soho will also be playing a one-off show at Bigsound in Brisbane, get in the pit! 10:30pm – Q Music Stage.
