Over the past few years, Brisbane punks WAAX have cemented themselves as one of the most exciting bands in Australia. Now, the rockers are back with an emotionally wrought new track ‘I Am’, and a national tour to boot.

‘I Am’ premiered on triple j last night. It was produced alongside Powderfinger legend Bernard Fanning, who previously worked with WAAX on their singles ‘Labrador’ and ‘FU.’ It’s a brutally vulnerable exploration of a relationship on the fritz.  “[It’s] about losing your sense of self,” vocalist Maz DeVita told Veronica and Lewis on triple j Drive. “About wanting to please someone so much that you forget who you are in the process.” Listen to the track below.

WAAX are gearing up to release their as-yet-untitled debut record in August. To celebrate, they’re heading out on a national tour. Kicking things off in Fremantle, the group will then head to Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne before wrapping things up in Sydney. Tour dates and ticket information below.
