Shock horror, another massive tour, and another warning to be very, very careful when buying tickets.

With the iconic Paul McCartney making his way to Oz this year for his first tour in over two decades, tickets were always going to be an enormous target for scalpers, but it’s also unofficial resale facilities gaming the system that’s causing problems according to promoter Frontier Touring.

As The Music reports, while the official presale is set to open for Frontier Touring members tomorrow, a little-known allocation was opened up to members of Paul McCartney’s fanclub today. Being simple to sign up for, scalpers of course jumped on it, listing the tickets on sites like Viagogo and StubHub at ridiculous markups.

The thing to note here is that neither of those sites are official resale facilities, and Frontier are warning eager buyers away, even though they may look to be a credible option.

“We know that internet search results can be hard to navigate when you’re on the hunt for concert tickets,” they advised fans today, warning that tickets listed here come with no guarantees, unlike those sold through official resale facilities Ticketek and Ticketmaster.

Frontier also pointed out that the unofficial sources are buying their way to the top of Google, “paying for advertisements to appear at the top of search results for hot tours — sitting even higher than the show’s authorised ticketing agency websites!”

“When searching for tickets, read the results carefully and look for the name of the show’s authorised ticketing agency,” they warn. “The safest way to get to a show’s authorised ticketing agency is to head to our website, find the relevant tour page and follow the link in the TOUR DATES & TICKETING section.”

For now, the best bet is to try your luck tomorrow during the official presale, with all the info below.
