Wavves drummer Billy Hayes has quit the band. He’d been noticeably absent from gigs which were covered by fill in drummers since they supported Phoenix at Madison Square Garden in New York City in October. It’s not the first time he’s quit a band – he and Wavves bassist Stephen Pope used to be the rhythm section for Jay Reatard and they quit just before Jay Reatard’s untimely death in January. It seems that Mae Shi and Signals drummer Jacob Cooper has been filling in as sticksman since the Phoenix support.
