If we learnt anything in school, it’s that Jimmy Barnes is a top bloke. He’s the kind of guy who would send you a heartfelt text to congratulate you on your upcoming new solo album and tell you how much he loved the lead single.

At least, that’s what he recently tried to do with former Powderfinger frontman Bernard Fanning. As Barnesy recently shared on Twitter, the Cold Chisel chief wanted to congratulate Fanning on the upcoming release of Civil Dusk, his new LP.

However, ‘Fanning’ wasn’t having it. He responded to Barnesy’s text with a significant degree of hostility, requesting the Australian music legend refrain from getting in contact with him again or he will be contacting the authorities.

Fanning retweeted Barnesy’s text but has so far refrained from commenting. Our guess is that may not have been the hit-maker behind songs like ‘Wish You Well’ that’s sitting under ‘Bernard fanning’ in the singer’s phone.
