The Whitley Australian Tour 2013 has been announced, and after making his musical homecoming with Even The Stars Are A Mess, Whitley is back to do it all again; announcing an extensive tour which sees him spreading a big ole starry mess across all corners of the country.

Kicking off in Tasmania (the forgotten state, no more), the Roadside Tour takes in a massive 23 shows spanning this October to December. From Bendigo to Bateman’s Bay; Wollongong to Woombye, the solo tour also sees Whitley stopping by some of the country’s finest vineyards for A Day On The Green, joining Bernard Fanning, The Cruel Sea, Sarah Blasko and Bob Evans. Melbourne artist Seagull will join Whitley on the road as a special guest – a celebratory affair for him also, with the release of new album Ocean From Above imminent.

The Roadside Tour follows on from a highly coveted spot on this year’s sold out Splendour in the Grass festival, not to mention rave reviews of new album Even The Stars Are A Mess – a work already hailed Whitley’s finest to date, with our Tone Deaf reviewer remarking: “If you’re desperately in love, this album will make you giddy. If you’re heartbroken, this will give you something to cry to, and if you’ve ever had either experience, this will certainly bring back some memories.”

The album sits at the end of a three-year sabbatical that saw the man behind the moniker, Lawrence Greenwood, immersed in a series of globetrotting adventures through Mexico, Cuba, London, Peru and Italy (among others). Well accustomed to the life of a traveling troubadour, Lawrence will pack his bags once again; this time, reigniting his love of our sunburnt country… and ‘roos.

Even The Stars Are A Mess joins Whitley’s acclaimed sophomore offering Go Forth, Find Mammoth and well-loved debut LP The Submarine. Following on from the blissfully pensive ‘My Heart Is Not A Machine’, Whitley’s new single ‘TV’ hits back with notably more voltage than its predecessor; painting the satirical tale of a life lived through the tube.

Even The Stars Are A Mess is out now via Dew Process/Universal Music Australia. Tickets to The Roadside Tour and A Day On The Green are on sale now.
