Drawing its concept and name from the location of legendary venue The Factory, the fifth floor of East Street, Midtown Manhattan, Fifth Floor is an underground movement of events that combines the best of psych music and visuals.
Channelling inspiration from underground movements past and present, the Fifth Floor collective hosts ‘psych-parties’ in its hometown of Melbourne and abroad, putting together one-time-only musical gigs at secret locations with amazing lineups.
The first Fifth Floor event was a huge success, hundreds were turned away at the door of the secret location while a sold out crowd of 400 punters or more enjoying some of Melbourne’s best buzz bands and psychedelic visual projections.
The Murlocs, Flyying Colours, Strangers From Now On, The Octopus Ride, Dan Trolley, and Premium Fantasy provided a mess of rock action, while live visuals from the likes of Astral Projection, Zonkvision, Rarakin Collektive and 12 Sandwiches splayed across the warehouse walls.
Each Fifth Floor event is a one-of-a-kind moment, presented by a team of creative minds to give the warehouse music party the widest exposure, and now Tone Deaf can reveal it’s helping put together the second Fifth Floor event, a send-off party with an amazing lineup, taking place before the collective head overseas to host Fifth Floor #3 in an arts warehouse in Berlin on 30th November.
Fifth Floor #2 will take place at a yet-to-be-announced warehouse venue on Saturday 23rd November, but with such a killer lineup, there’s more than enough reason to snap up one of the 200 tickets before the site details are unveiled.
Wolf & Cub lead the list of 12 psych/garage acts, headlining the the Fifth Floor #2 lineup and joined by Melbourne rockers Damn Terran and Hollow Everdaze, the ambient guitar strokes of I, a Man, as well as ESC, Warmth Crashes In, Meth Leopard, The New Pollution, Sooky La la, Mangelwurzel, Lands, and Jack Barclay.

Thom Russel of Astral Projection will be providing the live analogue psych projections and there will be two stages this time around. The main stage is setup for established acts with the side stage setup for up-and-coming local Melbourne bands, giving bands a DIY platform to step up onto.
Every Fifth Floor event is setup to sell out and bring together capacity crowds with each happening. Each event will be promoted with a short 16mm clip in vein of the early Warhol Factory footage, with Fifth Floor #2 expanding the 16mm live footage to promote the event and its secret warehouse location.
