If you think goon-themed punk is the randomest thing you’ve seen this week, think again.

Charity initiative Two Buck Books is celebrating the opening of a new store in Melbourne’s north by hiding books signed by Chet Faker amongst their shelves.

Alongside Chet Faker, several other Australian entertainment icons, including comedy writer Ryan Shelton, stars of The Katering Show, and Hughesy & Kate have penned their signature on a few inside covers, littered amongst the piles of second hand books up for sale for two bucks.

The volunteer-run book store operates several locations across Melbourne, with the proceeds going towards a nominated charity. At present funds go towards the Sudanese Australian Integrated Learning Program, a not-for-profit providing English support and other community services.

With outlets in Hawthorn’s Nevermind Bar and Fancy Hank’s BBQ in Melbourne’s CBD, the new north-side second hand book outlet goes perfectly with the craft beer and assorted food trucks Welcome to Thornbury has to offer.

Melbourne local Chet Faker often references his attachment to our buzzing city in his lyrics and those who frequent Twitter are well aware that the man loves a good laugh, so it comes as no surprise he’s lending his name to an initiative that is distinctly ‘Sah Melbourne’.

Really, just think about it. Your new copy of Moby Dick or Harry Potter and the International Rock Star could be worth a whole lot more than two bucks, inspiring a hilarious bidding war on eBay or the genesis of a new family heirloom… and all of this for a damn good cause.
