If you’re a fan of Weezer, the Promise Ring or Built to Spill, then you should definitely give Annabel a listen.

Youth in Youth has been a long time coming for for the artist, who came into the musical world some eight years ago.

With a classic indie sound, the album talks extensively about the life experiences of a band trying to make a name for themselves- travelling from basement to basement, making friends and just trying to take it all in.

A great summer soundtrack that is perfect for those days spent travelling on the road, every second song seems to blend into the one before it, which is a new and interesting format that they seem to have successfully pulled off.

This unique decision allows you to relax to the sounds, but also snaps you back to reality from time to time, ensuring you don’t get bored by a stream of tracks you can’t tell apart.

This combination of truthful and heart-felt lyrics, indicates a band that don’t shy away from real life issues, but rather openly embrace and push through them, clearly a message they are also trying to send to their fans.

A noteworthy track is ‘The Dept. of Mutual Appreciation’, where the pace picks up and an awesome set of riffs kick in.

Or if your looking for something of slower pace to completely chill out to then make sure you give ‘Home’ a listen.

If there ever was a masterpiece to take this band from the basement to centre stage, then this, their second full length LP, would be it.
