US rock band ††† (Crosses) seem to be gearing up to make their long-awaited return, reactivating their social media presence recently.

Back in 2011, the music world was treated to news of a brand new musical project. Consisting of Deftones vocalist Chino Moreno, Far guitarist Shaun Lopez, and Chuck Doom, the project was given the hard-to-Google name of †††, and released their debut EP soon after.

Over the next few years, Crosses began to perform live, and followed this up with another EP. Following the release of their debut album in 2014, the band made one of their sole international trips, performing in Australia for the penultimate edition of Soundwave.

Since 2016, things have been pretty quiet on the Crosses front, but the group broke their silence earlier this week, updating their Facebook page with a brand new photo.

While the band didn’t accompany this image with any information whatsoever, their fans have been quick to jump on the possibility of either new music or a tour from the group. As it stands, it’s been over four years since their last live show, and almost five since we last saw new music.

Of course, new music from Crosses might not that be farfetched, with Deftones recently confirming the release of a new album in 2019. Considering that Chino Moreno is clearly in the studio mood, it’s hardly a stretch to think that this newfound productivity might extend over to Crosses.

Speaking about the new Deftones record earlier this year, Moreno explained that the band are keen to ensure their forthcoming record contains contributions from every member of the band.

“There are six or seven songs, which are still mutating,” he explained to Rock.com.ar. “They are very powerful, and I am anxious because, as I told you before, it has been a collaborative process.”

“I think all our albums were postcards of what we were going through at each moment. Either with Adrenaline (1995), we were boys, with White Pony, we had matured a little, with Diamond Eyes (2010) or with which we are recording.”

“Everyone has their own feeling, because it belongs to an era. Today we are older guys, I suppose, but we still enjoy making songs with marked riffs, cool melodies and a lot of groove. It is fun.”

While we’ve got good news on the Deftones front, we just need confirmation of a new Crosses record before 2019 truly starts shaping up to be one unforgettable year for music.
