In what’s set to be a massive year for music and culture lovers, Brisbane Festival has announced its initial lineup of bands including Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever and Destroyer. The three bands are set to take on various venues across the city this September, each bringing their unique brand of indie rock to hungry Brisbane punters keen for the world’s best live acts.
Brisbane Festival kicks off on the 8th of September and wraps up on the 29th, giving you plenty of time to soak up all the incredible events and installations on offer around the city. Over the course of the festival, Brisbanites will be treated to live music, world-class comedy, theatre and fireworks – in short, there’s pretty much something for anyone to enjoy.

Unknown Mortal Orchestra
Hot off the back of the release of their critically acclaimed fourth album Sex & Food, indie-pysch-pop fusion act Unknown Mortal Orchestra will be heading to the iconic Tivoli Theatre on September 15th. The band were last in Australia for a string of sold-out shows in 2015 and will be bringing crowds a taste of their vast back catalogue.
Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever
Hailing from Melbourne, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever have caused a serious level of stir in the last year. The band are set to release their upcoming debut album Hope Downs, set for a release next Friday, June 15th. The band will hit up the Spiegeltent on the 27th of September, before heading out on a massive national headline tour.
Described as one of “the most evocative songwriters of his generation”, Canadian indie icon Destroyer is heading to Australia where he’ll be giving fans a taste of his expansive back catalogue of 12 albums and 4 EPs. His last album Ken was released in 2017 to huge critical acclaim and will be playing the Spiegeltent on September 23rd.
