30 Second To Mars are set to enter the Guinness Book of World Records after they play their 300th show on December 7th in support of their album This Is War. Playing 300 shows in support of one record will award them the world record for “Most Shows Performed During a Single Album Cycle”.

We can think of a few choice records they’re sure to win too but we don’t think Guinness would put them in their book. The concert will mark not only the end of 300 shows across 6 continents, but nearly two years to the day that the band released This Is War in December 2009.

Frontman Jared Leto said in a statement “We have been on the road for an incredible and insane two years and thought what better way to celebrate the end of this phenomenal journey than with a week of special shows in New York City. We thought documenting this for posterity with the ‘Guinness Book of World Records’ would be fun especially as we aren’t any good at growing our fingernails very long or cultivating the world’s largest squash.”

There was speculation a few months ago that the band would break up after this tour, with Leto saying in an interview with Kerrang!, “A lot of artists peak or get burned out. A lot of times they stop trying and those are all dangers. It took two years to make ‘This Is War’. Touring it has been another two years. Do I have that in me again? I don’t know.”

Look out for the band in a record book near you.
