The Sinking Teeth began in a flat above a particularly shady pawnshop in Brunswick, Victoria. There were holes in the walls, the roof leaked badly and the owner of the pawnshop said he would shoot us if we practiced there. The place was a dive, but it was perfect for writing grubby tunes. The band had some epic parties, wrote a few songs and then eventually part of the roof caved in, so unfortunately they had to move out.

Each member went their separate way having all met through sharing bills in various bands/The occasional hello on a Saturday night in the city. Eventually each member worked out that they had a whole bunch of stuff in common, so The Sinking Teeth was built as an outlet, something new to “sink their teeth into”.

After finding another derelict empty office space to move into, which only lasted a months due to a few noise complaints and a visit from the council the band were out on the street again. Now in a house in Carlton, with a good community vibe, the band cut their teeth playing all over Melbourne – shitty clubs/great pubs/parks/drainage ditches, whatever.

Earlier this year The Sinking Teeth recorded their debut EP at In The City studio with good mates Tom Larkin & Ben Ehrenberg. The EP is due for release June 14th.
