Nick Hexum, the frontman of mid-90s genre-melding band 311, has taken to Instagram to deliver a cover of hardcore trailblazer’s Turnstile. Hexum covered the band’s Nonstop Feeling track, ‘Blue By You’m and heralded the Maryland act as his “new favorite band.”

“My new favorite band is Turnstile, the hardcore band from Maryland. Their song ‘Blue By You’ has a beautiful melody so I slowed it down and did it acoustic. Thanks for the inspiration Turnstile,” he wrote. You can check out his cover below.

This period of self-isolation has spawned a bunch of cracking covers by some of our favourite musicians. Angel Olsen covered Roxy Music’s 1982 Avalon classic ‘More Than This’, Joan Baez covered ‘Hello In There’ in honour of her late friend John Prine, Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante, Testament guitarist Alex Skolnick, and Suicidal Tendencies bassist Roberto “Ra” Diaz performed a quarantine cover of Rush classic ‘YYZ’, and a bunch of Australian musicians joined forces on a Tik Tok cover of The Veronica’s ‘Untouched’.

In less welcome news, Puddle of Mudd tried their hand at a cover of a Nirvana classic ‘About A Girl’. A @catatonicyouths dream come true.
