The lineup for the inaugural Beyond The Valley, the new Aussie music festival taking over Phillip Island this New Year’s Eve, isn’t expected to drop until August. But three bands booked for the event have been leaked.

The first three artists heading to Victoria for the three-day luxury camping festival are international US rapper Action Bronson, Sydney’s latent superstars The Preatures, and Canberra EDM twosome Peking Duk, as internal sources have confirmed to Tone Deaf.

Action Bronson’s appearance on the Beyond The Valley is particularly encouraging for those looking forward to catching the New York chef-turned-MC live Down Under once more, after he cancelled on Groovin The Moo 2014 and a series of sideshows in March, shortly after touring Australia as part of Eminem’s Rapture event.

It’s also the first summer festival booking for The Preatures, who are in the midst of a national homecoming tour anticipating the release of their debut full-length album, (due in “six weeks. Maybe” as frontwoman Izzi Manfredi teased a sold out Melbourne crowd recently).

Rounding out the leaked trio is Peking Duk, whose multi-platinum dance track ‘High’ (featuring Nicole Millar) is ranked #14 on a list of Australia’s best-selling singles of 2014 so far. The single has also seen the duo landing a number of festival stints with Groovin The Moo and a spot on this weekend’s Splendour In The Grass bill.

News of Beyond The Valley first arrived in May before it was officially announced earlier this month, revealing that promoters are expecting to draw over 10,000 patrons for the event’s launch, partially luring ticketholders with an array of VIP camping options – such as private restrooms and showers, mini-bars, jacuzzis, breakfast buffets, concierges, hammocks, and other luxury amenities.

“This is really a shift away from the super festivals of the past to a boutique camping-style offering aiming to tailor to every taste,” says Beyond The Valley Director Nick Greco. “We wanted to do something that was a step above what was already being offered … which I think is something that has been lost with some other festivals.’’

Beyond The Valley is being hosted at the former home of the now-cancelled Pyramid Rock Festival, the Phillip Island Circuit site, owned by Lindsay Fox and the LinFox Group, who had a permit to host an event and “if we don’t use it, we lose it”, as veteran Aussie promoter Andrew McManus described it in a forthcoming feature interview with Tone Deaf.

Mr McManus, who is helping stage the production of the festival’s back-end (but not its booking), also hinted that the full Beyond The Valley lineup will feature “60-70 artists,” including “two or three [major] commercial acts” and DJs

Meanwhile Mr Greco tells News Corp the festival will “have a good mix of indie bands, hip hop and rap and dance music, a mix of locals and internationals and a focus on emerging Australian talent.”

The full lineup is expected to drop in August alongside ticket details.
