Ty Segall may be the hardest working man in modern music.

The garage-psych virtuoso has released six, count it six solo records since 2008 (that’s one a year, folks) not to mention a long-assed list of collaborations and side projects, including Ty Segall Band, White Fence, Mikal Cronin and Hair that have all received overwhelming critical acclaim, it appears that it never ends for this creative genius.

The year 2013 brought forth Sleeper, a change of direction for the West coast maniac, as he hazily stepped into the world of acoustic twang to deliver his most mature and relaxed record to date.

Some fans feared that this foray into chilled tones was a permanent departure from Segall’s signature buzz-fuzz-skuzz-rock, however, the 27-year old has returned in 2014 with his amplifier loud and the feedback distorted as fuck for his brand-spanking new record, Manipulator.

‘Susie Thumb’ is the first leak we’ve managed to squeeze from the hotly anticipated release, which sees the kingpin of San Fran garage-fuzz burn Sleeper to ashes, searing through two and a half minutes of old-school Segall goodness.

The track boots-off with chunky distortions as the leading man’s ’60s soaked vocals slice through the thick, blurry sonics. Despite it’s short spin time, the tune sees Segall unleash his inner shredding beast, as well as paying tribute to his glam rock foundations with bouncing, buoyant keys.

Manipulator is out 22nd of August, so until then, mash the repeat button for ‘Susie Thumb’ right here:
