“Ladies and Gentleman, now the moment you’ve all been waiting for. The world famous Jack Rabbit Slims Twist Contest!” These are the immortal words our Perth-based readers will soon be hearing following the imminent opening of Jack Rabbit Slim’s, the city’s new Pulp Fiction-inspired venue.

Have you been looking for a place to get a bloody-as-hell Douglas Sirk steak with a vanilla Coke or maybe a bloody Durward Kirby burger with a $5 shake served Martin and Lewis style? Maybe you just wanna see some live music in an awesome new venue? Well then Jack Rabbit Slim’s has you covered.

Opening late this July, Jack Rabbit Slim’s will be Perth’s new multi-purpose venue, combining the “comfort, sociability and bespoke beverage and food options of a small bar” with the full stage setup and a state-of-the-art sound system.

Visually, the venue will be channeling “a slick, 1950s diner inspired fit-out, incorporating booths, tables and retro-style arcade game machines”, not unlike the Jack Rabbit Slim’s made famous in Quentin Tarantino’s immortal 1994 film.

Slim’s, as you’ll soon be calling it, will be a place to catch up with friends and enjoy a delicious drink or a bowl of fries, before heading on over to the dance floor to shake it late on into the night. Oh, and there’ll be plenty of live music, too.

Promoters are boasting that over 20 live original music shows — including international acts — have already been booked by Metric Events at JR Slims, with the first month of lineups to be announced in a couple of weeks’ time.

“We all call Perth home and are proud of what our city represents,” said Metric Events Director Luke Whelan. “There is a fantastic music and cultural scene here that’s exploding, but a distinct lack of venues built with the purpose of live music in Perth, to facilitate this positive growth.”

“Slim’s will provide our Perth music-loving community with a permanent and reliable music venue that can showcase local talent and service touring artists, with a cross-section of both bands and electronic acts being programmed.”

“We’re going a step further, offering awesome food and great beverage options in a comfortable, versatile environment.” Metric Events are the minds who’ve brought Perth some of its most beloved events, including festival such as Wonderland, CIRCO, and Castaway.
