Less than a week out from its scheduled launch and just a week after the cancellation of another prominent Aussie boutique festival, the organisers of Out On The Weekend have announced the cancellation of their Sydney event.

Taking to Facebook, promoters of the Americana and country festival, which enjoyed a successful inaugural event in Melbourne last year before expanding to Sydney in 2015, have confirmed the cancellation of the Saturday, 24th October event.

“We regret to advise that due to less than anticipated ticket sales, we are no longer proceeding with Out On The Weekend at Bella Vista Farm on October 24,” a statement from promoters reads.

“While our expectations were not huge, we are greatly surprised at the lack of sales and cannot proceed both financially or logistically with the number of tickets sold.”

“For those who purchased tickets to the Sydney event, Oztix will automatically refund the ticket price directly back to the credit card on which the order was purchased. It can take up to 5 – 10 working days for a refund to be processed back to the card.”

“As a form of compensation and a thank you for your support of the Sydney event, we are happy to offer Sydney ticket holders a free ticket to a couple of shows by international acts Sam Outlaw, Jonny Fritz & Shelly Colvin and Jamestown Revival in Sydney at Newtown Social Club that were to play the festival.”

Out On The Weekend 2015 featured a star-studded lineup, including the likes of Dawes, Sam Outlaw, Robert Ellis, Jamestown Revival, Jonny Fritz, Ruby Boots, Mustered Courage, Suzannah Espie, Barna Howard, Shelly Colvin, and many more.

There were also special performances exclusive to each city. In Melbourne, crowds witnessed by a performance from Tex, Don & Charlie, whilst Sydney was set to enjoy a performance from ARIA Award winner Kasey Chambers.
