It’s been a minute since we heard from The Temper Trap, the Melbourne band who first caught our attention with ‘Sweet Disposition’, the lead single from debut album Conditions, which was absolute sync-candy in the late ’00s.

“It’s been a long while coming but it’s finally time to let some of this music we’ve been working on out into the world!” the band wrote on Facebook last night. “‘Thick as Thieves’ is a little sneak peak to get your earholes tingling for the upcoming record.”

“A lot has happened since the last album and those experiences, loves, desires, and struggles are distilled in these songs. It’s a new beginning, a reborn band, a band of brothers. We can’t reveal too much more than this right now but more news to follow very soon.”

It’s a jangly guitar song; I had the riff for ages. Joseph [Greer, guitarist] and myself just kind of worked it out in his old flat one day,” frontman Dougy Mandagi told triple j. “I have riffs on my phone that are 2-3 years old. So, it’s been a while; some never see the light of day.”
