Earlier this month we heard the worrying news that AC/DC’s longtime frontman, Brian Johnson, is no longer able to continue touring with the band. Whilst details were scant, a statement from the band indicated Johnson could not complete the band’s current tour due to hearing issues.

“AC/DC’s lead singer, Brian Johnson, has been advised by doctors to stop touring immediately or risk total hearing loss,” the statement read. The band advised their US fans that more information regarding rescheduled shows was forthcoming and that dates would likely feature a “guest vocalist”.

No doubt every rock vocalist in the world experienced a collective case of FOMO as soon as the news broke, with fans around the world speculating about who could be fit to front one of the world’s biggest hard rock acts and even original AC/DC singer Dave Evans putting his hand up.

But according to an Atlanta radio DJ, Acca Dacca have already gone and settled on who they want on lead vocals for the remainder of their North American tour. As Alternative Nation reports, Radio 100.5 DJ Jason Bailey reckons the band have tapped none other than Axl Rose.

According to Bailey, a “very, very good source” has told him Rose will be fronting the band for the remainder of the tour. “This is what I’m being told, Axl was meeting with the AC/DC group, because it’s all but a done deal that Axl will front AC/DC for the 10 remaining shows. All 10, including Atlanta,” he said.

“From what I was told, this was all kind of new inside information to me, Angus is a very black and white guy. He’s like, Brian, for health reasons, can’t continue fronting the band. He was supposed to retire after the last tour, so they wanted to continue going out on the road and continue making music.”

“So if you can’t do it, we appreciate your services, but the show must go on. They’re in town, they were auditioning people for the job, and then they flew Axl in, again, this is from my source.” And this may not just be some DJ’s wild speculation.

As Alternative Nation reported earlier, the Guns N’ Roses frontman was indeed spotted in Atlanta over the weekend. According to MSL from the GNRTruth fan forum, Rose was in town for rehearsals, but not for GNR’s upcoming reunion shows.

MSL did not indicate just what Rose is rehearsing for in the same town where AC/DC are set to have their next show (and where GNR are not set to play at all), but it’s led to widespread speculation that Rose could be fronting AC/DC for at least one or part of their upcoming shows.
