The Bank of Melbourne has announce the return of their annual Melbourne Music Bank, an annual competition to uncover Australia’s next big thing and give them a serious leg up in the local music industry.

Last year Melbourne Music Bank uncovered Jade Alice, who’s gone on to secure national radio airtime, launched a new single, and even appeared on the ABC. This year’s $60,000 is now set to launch another career.

The winner of this year’s Melbourne Music Bank will be handed the keys to the kingdom, with the prize pack consisting of four days of recording at Melbourne’s The Studios In The City to record, mix and master an EP.

You will also get two film clips, album artwork, printed CDs, styling, media training, and a photoshoot for the release. The winner also receives management and mentoring by Matt O’Connor, publicity by On The Map PR, radio plugging by Varrasso PR, and gig bookings by 123 Agency.

There’s also an opportunity to tour the East Coast of Australia and perform at Beyond The Valley festival. To enter, you should submit your entry via the official Melbourne Music Bank website by 5pm Saturday, 27th August 2016.

To be eligible, musicians must be from Victoria and submit an original song by 5pm on 27th August. The public will then select four finalists from a shortlist of 12 and the winner will be selected by a judging panel of industry experts following a live performance at Melbourne’s Hamer Hall.

“I’m thrilled to be involved with the brilliant Melbourne Music Bank again,” said Melbourne Music Bank ambassador Ella Hooper. “This program is really snow-balling! Last year we saw some downright incredible entries.”

“The wealth of talent in this city never fails to impress and inspire me. I can’t wait to see what this year’s comp turns up and to work with the entrants all the way through to finals and beyond, finishing up with a gorgeous gig at a dream venue!”
