Last month, we had the pleasure of announcing an upcoming reunion of Recovery, the ABC’s beloved ’90s Saturday morning staple that defined an entire generation of Australian music fans.

A stage version of Recovery is presently in the works, as hosts Dylan Lewis and Jane Gazzo continue their calls for it to return to television and fill the hole it left back in 1998.

Lewis, Gazzo, and Leigh Whannell, who served as the show’s movie critic before going on to find Hollywood fame with Saw, will celebrate the show’s 1996 premiere with a “series of events”.

As The Music reports, the first of those events, a reunion party featuring Powderfinger and Spiderbait, went down over the weekend and Gazzo revealed what’s on the cards for the coming months.

Gazzo told The Music that the next instalment of the Recovery anniversary celebrations will be a Rage special set to air later this month on 13th August.

The special will feature live performances from the show, which Gazzo and Lewis curated together. “We chose all the live acts, something like 60 artists – it was so tough to choose,” said Gazzo.

“It was the first time we’d worked together in 18 years. I’d forgotten how funny Dylan can be! Some hilarious moments. He brought in musical instruments and toys. It was just like being on the Recovery set again.”

There’s also a Recovery DVD and CD box set on the cards for November. The DVD will feature live performance footage, a booklet of photos, and plenty of other goodies.
