The Smith Street Band recently confirmed that they’ve completed work on their next studio album, a follow-up to 2014’s acclaimed Throw Me In The River, and they’re not wasting any time in prepping the first single.

“HELLO MELBOURNE FRIENDS! Do you wanna be in our next music video?” the band write on Facebook. “We’re gonna be shooting some classic ‘crowd at a gig’ stuff down at the Reverence THIS Sunday and need a whole lot of you to come down and rock out!”

“There’ll be some FREE beer and pizza for those who get in early and everyone will get to hear one of our brand new songs!! So dig up your freshest (oldest?) band shirt, dust off that flanny (/wear whatever you like) and come pretend you’re watching us play a gig!”

“Hope you can make it! Lots of love, The Smithies.” Unfortunately, pub rules still apply so you’ll have to be over 18 to get in. Otherwise, head on down to the Reverence Hotel in Footscray on Sunday, 9th October. Be there 4pm sharp and enjoy the revelry.

Details on the next Smith Street record are scant, but in an interview with Medium earlier this year, the band revealed that “11 new songs” have been written since Throw Me In The River, the band’s acclaimed third album, was released two years ago.

Some of the songs have apparently made their way into the band’s live set and their soundcheck, so if you’ve checked out a Smith Street show in the last 12 months or so, you may have caught a glimpse of their fourth full-length album.
