Earlier this morning, The Smith Street Band officially unveiled their latest single, the fiery ‘Death To The Lads’, along with a string of upcoming national tour dates. But the band have even more big news, they’ve launched their own record label.

A press release issued this morning stated that the band’s upcoming new album would be released in early 2017 via the band’s own, newly established Pool House Records. According to The Music Network, the label is a partnership between the band and Remote Control Records.

“We’ll have the opportunity to be extremely flexible and do things our own way – a great example is the chance we’ll have to help our friends to release the amazing music they create,” drummer Chris Cowburn The Music Network.

“I think the partnership with Remote Control will be of huge assistance to do things in a highly professional way and target not just a wider audience, but the right audience.” The band are perhaps best known for their association with Melbourne’s Poison City Records.

“Poison City Records have been a huge part of our journey so far,” Cowburn told TMN, “and (Owner/Founder) Andy Hayden is a true mentor and idol of ours, so with Pool House we’ll actually be hoping to mimic the way that label is run and its ethos, not deviate from it.”

“We aim to create an inclusive community for people to love and share music,” he added. “Music has made the world a much smaller place for us in a very positive way, and we’ve met and become friends with liked-minded people all around the world; we’d like for everyone to have the opportunity to be a part of that.”

Once Pool House is “a little more established”, Cowburn said, the band plan on releasing music by other acts. In the meantime, keep an eye out for the band’s new album in early 2017 and check out their latest single in the embed below.
