In case you hadn’t heard, much loved triple j Breakfast hosts Matt Okine and Alex Dyson hanging up the microphones once and for all next month, moving on to bigger and better things.

Dyson, who’s been at the national youth broadcaster for a decade, wants to feed his travel bug, and Okine will be focusing on his burgeoning hip-hop and acting careers.

So who’ll be replacing the duo? Those are big shoes to fill and no doubt triple j already have a pair of presenters in mind, but we have a few suggestions in case they’re still deciding.

We’ve put together our own list of dream presenters for triple j’s new Breakfast team. But of course everyone no doubt has their own ideas about how triple j should get. What’s your wish list?

Gemma Pike

Gemma Pike is already a much-loved staple of triple j’s airtime. We hear her voice on weekends and whenever Lewis McKirdy is feeling a bit sick. She knows Aussie music, she knows triple j, and there’s little doubt she’d easily be able to make the transition to the big time on the js.

Anne Edmonds

The comedian affectionately known as Eddo has been making ‘Ones to Watch’ list for some time thanks to her charmingly crude take on Australian life. Having followed her stand-up for some time, we’d love nothing more than to hear her take on the pertinent news stories of the day each morning.

Ronnie Chieng

Ronnie Chieng is seriously on the come-up right now, so he might actually be too busy to take a job at triple j right now, though the promise of that sweet government super might be enough to beguile him. A hilarious and cantankerous stand-up comedian, his is an energy we’d love to see coming to breakfast time.

Alex Williamson

You probably know ‘Shooter’ from one of his YouTube videos, or maybe it was his live show, or that profile Tone Deaf ran on him not too long ago. Either way, this comedian and sketch artist is certainly, ah, shall we say ribald? But since when has triple j shied away from a little irreverence?

Phil Jamieson

Okay, so we’ve covered comedians and broadcasters, but what about musicians? triple j has a history of recruiting from the music world when looking for presenters. Just look at KLP, Jay Whalley, and of course, the legend himself, The Doctor. This former Grinspoon frontman has been known to pop up on Triple M from time to time and we reckon he’d be great at breakfast time.
