It’s been a long, long wait, but your favourite animated band are back with a brand new track, the apocalyptic ‘Hallelujah Money’.

People are feeling a bit testy about Donald Trump’s imminent inauguration, and the Gorillaz are no different, detailing the themes at work here in an announcement this morning.

“Dark times – u need someone to look up to. Me. Here’s a lightning bolt of truth in a black night. Now piss on! New stuff won’t write itself.”

Premiered on Uproxx, the track features a deep, rich vocal performance from British artist Benjamin Clementine, preaching sardonically from within a Trump Tower elevator, and serves as a very bold but not at all unexpected way for the band to return to our world for the first time since 2011’s The Fall.
